The comment was made by the district's health coordinator, Pam Trude, who shared the district's school nurse summary report on the Sept. 11 meeting.

"We're making it work, we look for sales, we Jew people down, we do anything we can do to make our dollar last," Trude said while discusing the tight budget. "Right girls?"

Warner addressed the comment at this week's meeting.

"We did have one of our employees make a comment that is not representative of what we believe as a community," he said. "That's not what we stand for."

Warner specifically addressed the Jewish community, noting he's a longtime resident and knows "what it feels like to have people say things that are hurtful.

"That is not who we are. As your superintendent, as a board, we don't tolerate that... my sincere apologies."
